Successfully organized a scientific seminar on the results of research cooperation between Dr. Larsen Peter and the Sustainable Community Research and Development Team

     

With the approval of the provincial People's Committee, on the afternoon of 10/01/2018 Quang Binh University held a scientific seminar on "Cultural Heritage and Community Rights in Phong Nha Ke Bang National Park" at the Learning Resource Center, QBU

On the afternoon of January 10, 2018, at the Learning Resource Center, Quang Binh University held a scientific seminar on "Cultural Heritage and Community Rights in Phong Nha Ke Bang National Park". This is the result of research cooperation between Dr. Peter Larsen, University of Lucerne, Switzerland and Sustainable Community Research and Development, University of Quang Binh from 2015. The Seminar aims to share research results with researchers, faculties, students and relevant authorities in the province.

The attending  guests were representatives of the Quang Binh Department of Culture and Sports, representatives of the Mountainous Ethnic Minority of Quang Binh, representatives of Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park, local researchers.

On behalf of Quang Binh University, the seminar was attended by Dr. Bui Khac Son - Vice Rector of the University, Dr. Vo Thi Dung - Head of Scientific Management and International Relations Division together with many faculty members.

At the seminar, Dr. Tran The Hung - Head of Sustainable Community Research and Development team presented an overview on the results of research collaboration with Dr. Lasen Peter in the near future. Afterwards is the report of the team members: MSc. Nguyen Huu Duy Vien with the report on "GIS data for ethnic minorities in the Phong Nha - Ke Bang region and some problems of using and exploiting data", Ms. Cao Thi Thanh Thuy with the report "Geography of Ethnic Minorities in Phong Nha - Ke Bang Region: Opportunities and Challenges". Dr. Peter Larsen introduces the film "Back to the Hang En" and reports on "World Heritage and Community Rights Research: Opportunities and Challenges."

The discussion received a lot of meaningful attention from the participants. The seminar also agreed on some issues related to the improvement, sharing and use of GIS data on ethnic minority communities in Phong Nha - Ke Bang area, the problem of conservation and exploitation of the landscape, the culture of ethnic minorities in the PN - KB area and orientation for research expansion in 2018.
